Programming an SR-955? Start here: Programming the SR-955HPC — pick your model and Windows version.

This article applies only to SR-955HPC Version 2 and SR-955HPC+ (HPC Plus) radios.

The classic SR-955HPC Version 1 does not have the Runtime Error 6 (Overflow) issue that sometimes appears on V2 and HPC+ when you click Read from Radio. Do not use the .zip files or video on this page with a Version 1 radio, and do not load an HPC+ or V2 .Dat file into a V1.

If you have a Version 1 and the programming software crashes on Read, you are usually on the wrong software version or a Windows driver problem. Use the Version 1 programming software, and see Windows 11 Programming Software Driver or Drivers for Windows 10. For lost or missing channels on V1, use I programmed my radio and lost channels.

Resolving Run Time Error 6 (V2 and HPC+ only)

If you receive this error when attempting to "read from radio" in our programming software on a Version 2 or HPC+, don't panic. It's very simple to resolve.

The first step is downloading the .zip file attached to this article.

If you have an SR-955HPC+, download this zip file.

Remember where you saved it, and extract both files to the same directory (folder).

You will need to load the .Dat file as it is shown in the video below.

After you do what is shown in the video, you can now click "read from radio" without any issue.
