Can I change the 10in shafts with a shorter shafts so I can put it on top of mirrors?

Yes, but the whip might need to be slightly longer to compensate for the shorter shaft. If you need a longer whip, you can always use one like our SR-5K does and trim it to the length needed. Even a generic whip from a CB Shop will work provided the diameter is similar.
