SR-655HPC+ Setup Guide

This guide is for the SR-655HPC+ (short chassis, vents). Classic V1/V2 use SR-655HPC Setup Guide. Confirm the radio: Which 655 do I have?

SR-655HPC+ faceplate. The 655 has no SSB. On the Plus, the mode switch includes WX for weather receive.

1. Mode switch — AM. Positions are AM, FM, PA, and WX on the Plus. Weather: Does the SR-655HPC have weather channels?
2. Receiver squelch (SQ) — All the way left to start.
3. Receiver volume (VOL) — Comfortable level.
4. RF Gain — All the way right.
5. Microphone gain — All the way right.
6. Echo delay (DEL) — With talkback on, set to taste.
7. Echo volume — With talkback on, set to taste.
8. Coarse clarifier (COA) — FR + 0K / 12 o’clock.
9. VOX — All the way left (off) unless you want hands-free TX.
10. RF power (PWR) — 12 o’clock to start.
11. Monitor / talkback (MON) — Comfortable level. Full left is off.
12. Band selector — D for a stock radio. How do I get to bands F–L?
13. Dimmer (DIM) / Hi-Cut (HIC) — Middle. To dim: slide to DIM, then turn the channel knob.
14. NB / ANL — ANL unless you need the blanker.
15. Roger beep (RB) / PRG — Middle unless you want a roger beep or the program menu.
16. +10 kHz / VFO — Middle unless you need +10 kHz offset or VFO.

FUNC, COLOR, and SCAN are on the left. Frequency knob is on the far right.

If you scramble the function menu, reset to factory defaults:

1. Radio off. Hold FUNC + COLOR + SCAN.
2. Power on. Display shows REST ALL.
3. Release. Wait for REST END.
4. Power off and back on.
